Science, You’ve Done It!
We are a mighty species. MIT researchers have developed a nanomaterial coating for ketchup bottles (and other hard to pour substances) that solves one of mankind’s most immense problems: How do you get the stuff out of the bottle??
Behold LiquiGlide, and glance into the future of condiments.

Robotic bird lands on a hand. Lead scientist/aerospace engineering Prof. Soon-Jo Chung at the U of Illinois says it is the “first demonstration of autonomous/robotic flight of a bird-like micro aerial vehicle (MAV) perching on a human hand.” Found the story through Guy Kawasaki.
Anybody else want to make a 45 foot, 800 lb working paper airplane? Learned about this at Boing Boing.

Now this is a biofuel motor vehicle—a poomobile. And, it is at the Denver Zoo, too! Gizmodo also has a gallery of pics.
Good scientific explanation of the world record paper airplane throw.
NIST walk through time. Pretty interesting.
World’s smallest V-12 Engine. Found via Boing Boing. Wonder what kind of horsepower it gets?
Single-Molecule Car. “Scientists in the Netherlands have introduced a molecule-sized car. Legroom might be an issue. Its wheels are comprised of a few atoms each; its motor, a mere jolt of electricity. Scientists in the Netherlands have introduced the world’s smallest car — and it’s only a single molecule long.” Thanks Chris for the heads-up on the article.

BBC News reported on an “electric motor made from a single molecule.” The butyl methyl sulphide molecule spins around up to 120 times a second.
“The motor, made from a single molecule just a billionth of a metre across, is reported in Nature Nanotechnology.” (Subscription required.)
